Softening hard leather is easy to achieve with Leather Revive, a leather oil specially developed by Furniture Clinic for this purpose.

Car seats often dry out due to extreme changes in temperature, it can be very hot inside the car on a sunny day, and then the car cools down during the night. The effect of this slowly causes the leather's natural oils to solidify, which leads to the leather becoming hard. The same effect occurs on furniture when the sun shines through the window on a hot day, or when, for example, a sofa is too close to a radiator. Clothes, shoes and handbags also suffer from this effect, and below we describe how to go about softening leather that has become hard.

Using Leather Revive to soften hard leather

1. Clean the leather thoroughly . In order for the oil to penetrate the leather, you first need to remove all old dirt, wax and other things that have accumulated on the surface of the leather over time and penetrated its pores. For best results, use Ultra Clean leather cleaner.

2. Apply a little Leather Revive to the leather and massage it in with your hands. Be careful and make sure to really work the oil in properly, making sure you don't miss any part of the leather. This way the oil will penetrate the leather fibers and you will get an even coverage.

3. Then apply an even layer of Leather Revive to the leather with a cotton cloth, then cover with plastic wrap. Let it work, penetrate and dry overnight.

4. Wash off excess Revive from the leather surface with a cloth dampened with Ultra Clean leather cleaner. It is very important that the surface is cleaned thoroughly, otherwise stains may appear on clothing afterwards. If, after cleaning with Ultra Clean, there are still oily areas on the leather, wipe these with Alcohol Cleaner .

This process gives the leather a balanced treatment of leather oil and also ensures that excess oil is removed afterwards, so that the risk of getting oil stains on clothes and other things is minimized. The leather will be significantly softer than before, but if you feel that it should be made even softer, simply repeat the process two to three times, until the desired softness of the leather is achieved.
