For proper cleaning of hides & leather, a good leather cleaner is needed. Our range includes Furniture Clinics Ultra clean. It is a very effective leather cleaner that cleans the leather deeply and removes almost all dirt, air pollutants and soot from leather. It is safe to use on all types of leather except suede and nubuck.
When cleaning leather, you get the best results if you use a foam cleaner as opposed to spraying the cleaner directly onto the leather. Foam is better because it reduces the risk of fading and streaking, but cleaning with foam is more effective because the foam first dissolves the dirt, which is then absorbed by the foam, and then wiped off. When cleaning aniline leather, you also have time to clean the surface of the leather if you use a foam cleaner, unlike sprays which are immediately absorbed by the aniline leather.
Do this:
Pour Ultra Clean leather cleaner into a sponge and work up a lather by repeatedly squeezing the sponge.
Rub the sponge against the leather in circular motions to loosen the dirt. As the dirt loosens, it will be absorbed by the foam. Then wipe the foam with a dry cloth.
For most leather surfaces, it is sufficient to do as above, but if the leather is really dirty, it can be much easier to use a cleaning brush . With it, you gently brush the foam and thus get into the folds, grains and patterns of the leather, where the dirt otherwise tends to remain.

After cleaning, the next step is to moisturize, soften and protect the leather. For this, a protective cream, Leather Protection Cream, is used. After applying the protective cream, it is easier to maintain the leather, dirt simply sticks less easily to a surface that has been treated with protective cream, and it also protects against friction wear and sun fading.
The photo above shows a cream-colored leather sofa with deep-seated dirt. Half of the sofa has been cleaned to show the difference after cleaning with Ultra Clean leather cleaner. Notice that the dirty part is shinier. What happens is that as you use the sofa, the dirty surface becomes “polished” over time, and when you clean it, both the dirt and shine disappear, and the leather regains its original surface finish.
